The title features more modes, settings, and ways to engage than any game in the series I can recall. The blazing new Blackout mode steals the zeitgeist of the battle royale’s thunder, packaging it in a polished, powerful entry to the burgeoning genre. If you’re willing to eschew single-player completely, the payoff is worth it.

In Blackout, Treyarch has proved the series can still be agile and forward-thinking, while smart changes to Zombies and multiplayer show there's still plenty of life in these old bones.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a great multiplayer first-person shooter. Each of the three multiplayer modes plays in a number of unique diverse ways, but each maintains that core identity of a Call of Duty title.

Those who played the PC version of Blackout in the open beta already know that the PC version is not an awkwardly masked port, but a game that has been built entirely from scratch for this platform - from navigation through menu screens and gunplay to customization options that a PC player can expect.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, in certain aspects, is a wonder to behold. The crisp animations, fluid movement, solid gunplay, and frantic action that has defined the franchise is here in its full glory. Losing the single-player campaign isn’t a big issue once you’ve tried and tested the different features the game has to offer. Treyarch made this bold decision, and Beenox followed through with creating a PC version from the ground up.

Black Ops 4 feels like one of the strongest Call of Duty entries to come along in years. Despite not having a solo campaign or some of the past games' more bombastic mechanics, Treyarch has proved the adage that "less is more." And this game's "less" is good enough to keep me waiting around for "more."
  7. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has absolutely revived the series. With Blackout mod and special characters, we have a new game which will keep us busy for very long time to come.

A quality-made but unsurprising multiplayer FPS that offers refined versions of the current most popular modes and top-tier shooting.

CoD Black Ops 4 is a good game, where Treyarch succeeds in offering a AAA Battle Royale experience packed with goods ideas. The Zombie mode is bigger and exhilarating, but unfortunately the classic multiplayer mode doesn't offer anything really new. All that is not enough to make us all forget the solo campaign, which totally disappeared in this episode.

Blackout is the best part of this year’s Call of Duty package, and might even justify the cost of entry even with no singleplayer campaign. It hews very close to PUBG’s mold, maybe a bit too close for those who already have battle royale fatigue, but it repackages those ideas in the most polished form I’ve seen so far.

Compared to the complex building skills you need to succeed in Fortnite, Blackout is a more straightforward experience. And it already feels better and more stable than PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds did in its early months. [Impressions]

Treyarch's uphill battle was convincing me that Blackout made up for the loss of the campaign, with multiplayer and Zombies seeing improvements over previous iterations. So far, I'm almost onboard with that concept. As a cornucopia of multiplayer action, what I've played of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 feels like it delivers. [12 Hour Impressions]

Black Ops 4 is literally Black Ops 3.5.

It's not innovating and not fun at all, here's why.

    1) It's now only on the Blizzard client which means they cut the user-base more than half. Why not release it on both Blizzard and Steam? No harm, no foul.

    2) $60. For $60 you get Multiplayer/competitive, Battle Royale and Zombies. Back then (years ago) we got, a Campaign, Multiplayer/competitive and Zombies. Now you pay more for less. They put all their development resources into Battle Royale so they skipped out on the Campaign.

    3) Battle Royale. 80% of players who bought Black Ops 4 are playing Blackout, the Battle Royale mode in this game. It's not a standalone game, not free or let's say $5 - 20 dollars, it's an add-on which means this tacked-on gamemode will die once the next Call of Duty comes out. Horrible business model. Did I mean it's unbalanced which it needs the standalone release for consistent updates?

    4) Remastered maps. The development team lost it's "soul" and they just recreate old maps and make them "new" in order to not make new maps. Back to the not being innovating.

    5) Operators. These "specialists" are basically Operators from Rainbow Six: Siege now. Back to the not being innovating.

    6) Server tick-rate is low which means locked FPS.

    7) Gameplay. Everyone is "squishy." You need to put 2 - 3 magazines into someone in order to kill them. Hardcore is best way to play for this type of game. If not, have fun going around a corner and someone camping it.

    Non-PC issue:
    7) No cross-platform, Xbox players and PlayStation players can't play with each other.

Hardly even a complete game. There is very little content, and one that is in is dull and boring. 20$ game at best. Very few people playingHardly even a complete game. There is very little content, and one that is in is dull and boring. 20$ game at best. Very few people playing too. Glitches all around. No improvement of any kind compared to previous game. Blackout is more dynamic then PUBG but over PUBG, with all its glitches, does it better. Waste. Full Review »
